Dr. Pepper Marinated Chicken

Dr. Pepper marinated chicken breasts on the grill is my favorite marinade. It is sweet and makes the meat so tender and delicious!  When my daughter is home, we usually add extra brown sugar.  She likes her meat to be extra sweet.  One of the beauties of marinades is the flexibility.  Have a vampire problem?  Add more garlic.  Watching your sodium?  Use a low sodium soy sauce or cut back on the soy sauce.  This recipe is easy to tweak until it is perfect for you and your family.

This is another recipe born out of necessity.  I was planning to make grilled chicken marinated in Italian dressing.  We don’t seem to have any Italian dressing.  Since we had some when I planned this meal, I’m just not sure what happened there.

We first tried this during my husband’s cooking weeks.  For two weeks, he did all of the grocery shopping and cooking so I could have a break.  Isn’t he a sweety?  By the way, it was an amazing two weeks.

I just put the chicken breasts into a Ziploc bag and pour the marinade over them.  I let them soak in that loveliness for most of the day.  By dinner time, they are ready for the grill.

The Dr. Pepper gives the meat a lovely flavor plus the carbonation makes the meat really juicy and tender.  The soy sauce and garlic each give the meat a great deal of savory delight.  The brown sugar enhanced the sweetness.  All of the unique flavors play well together.
