Blackberry Cobbler: A Slow Cooker #Recipe

My grandparents had a fence in their yard where blackberries grew wild.  My grandfather and I would pick blackberries during blackberry season each year.  Sometimes, we would sprinkle some sugar on them, but only if there was enough left by the time we got inside.  There was NEVER enough of them left for a blackberry cobbler or other desserts.  I now have blackberries growing in my own backyard, but I still have the same problem.  Not nearly enough berries make it inside my house to even consider making a cobbler.  LOL

Since this blackberry cobbler recipe uses a can of blackberry pie filling, I can still share my berries in my backyard with my son and a few birds and squirrels.  I just pour the pie filling into the bottom of my slow cooker and spread it evenly.  Next, I sprinkle a half of a box of white cake mix over the pie filling and, again, spread it evenly.  One half stick of butter cut into small pats are layered over the cake mix.

Honestly, this recipe works best in a small slow cooker.  If you are hoping to fill a medium to large slow cooker, I would recommend doubling this recipe… maybe even tripling for a really large slow cooker.

The slow cooker does all the work.  I cook this blackberry cobbler on low for 3-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.  Of course, these times may need to be adjusted for your appliance since some appliances cooker faster or slower than others.

Pretty stinking easy, right?
